COMMON ISSUES FOR VOLKSWAGEN DRIVERS
Perhaps you’ve heard the local TV or radio meteorologist say that a particular day will be mostly sunny with a chance of clouds. That means that the weather is going to be nice, but there may be an occasional lull in your suntan efforts. Volkswagen reliability and performance are really no different. Manufacturing cars since 1937, the company responsible for “the people’s car” knows how to build a solid form of transportation. Therefore, your VW will likely run well for a long time.
Like the passing clouds, however, you will sometimes find yourself needing auto repair. Our certified technicians at Holland Car Care in San Carlos, California, work on all makes and models. We’re familiar with all the common Volkswagen problems, so we can fix your vehicle without wasting valuable time and money.
OLDER VOLKSWAGEN MODEL ISSUES
The first Volkswagens were introduced in a time and place where people were seeking practicality, reliability, and affordability. Not only did the manufacturer answer this call, but the company also managed to produce a vehicle that seemed to run nearly forever. As great as they were, however, they did also have some quirks. Many of the cars needed frequent minor repairs. These issues were simple to fix and not costly, but they were sometimes constant, particularly as the autos aged. Another problem was motor vibration. As the power plant shook the car back and forth, it sometimes caused body rattles or even pulled gas lines loose. Clearly, this was an issue because it caused a number of car fires.
NEW EDITION PROBLEMS
Over the decades, Volkswagens have, of course, modernized and greatly improved. Even so, our technicians do notice a few problems more often than others. For instance, Jettas (2014 and newer) sometimes have a faulty check engine light resulting from computer or electrical wiring malfunction. Also, rattling still aggravates some VW drivers. These are usually simple to eliminate as they are caused by muffler brackets, rear springs, or other undercarriage elements. The biggest complaint from drivers of modern models is tool specifications. Some components require tools sized just for Volkswagens.
